of Terms
Healthcare
Programs are educational and clinical activities enhancing
the physical well being of individual patients and the general
public. Such programs are conducted in institutional and
non-institutional settings.
Money
is provided by grant funding for general operations and specific
capital needs.
Manpower
is provided in the form of short-term volunteer workers, with and
without medical expertise, and through the recruitment of long-term
medical and administrative staff for field programs.
Material
is provided in the form of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and
other supplies enabling the delivery of healthcare services in the
field.
Management
support is provided through consulting services offered to
national partners and the healthcare programs, for which they are
responsible, enabling them to better plan, organize, lead and
control such activities.
Partner
Agencies are churches, para-church organizations and other
entities (public and private) providing or promoting healthcare in
the field.
Sustainability
is the maintenance of healthcare services throughout the expected
lifetime of a program by the application of reliable and available
resources.
