Dirk and Karen Martin

Dirk and Karen met in Haiti in 1986 when they both started teaching at Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince.  While teaching music at St. Vincent’s School for Handicapped Children, Dirk developed an interest in blind rehabilitation, and completed two graduate degrees in this area through distance education.  The Martins joined LMM and moved to Cayes in 2005 to work with people who are blind and serve as the In-country Coordinators of the Advantage Program, a ministry to people with physical disabilities.

Melinda (Nannie) Hester

In 2002, Nannie heard the call of God on her life.  Through Haiti Under God (HUG), an organization in Edisto Island, S.C.  Nannie has been to Haiti several times on short-term mission trips.  Through these trips, God called her to full time mission work in Haiti with Lumiere Medical Ministries.  She has been at Hôpital Lumière in Bonne Fin for two years. She has a passion to develop connections with people through sewing, embroidery, music and teaching English.  Personal relationships are the key to Nannie's evangelism.  "If you don't have a relationship with people, if they don't trust you, then you can't tell them about Jesus."

She serves as Field Coordinator for Bonne Fin, overseeing LMM ministries there.  She also
manages the LMM Guest House, operates three remote mobile clinics and works for patient advocacy in the hospital.
